Scud Hunt (2026) is a retro arcade game that playfully recruits the viewer into the American war effort
Armed with a cursor, players are tasked with shooting down Iraqi Scud missiles, the ballistic weapons launched by Saddam Hussein's forces during the 1991 Gulf War. War becomes a game, participation becomes entertainment, and the player becomes an unwitting participant in the spectacle.
Part of my larger Desert Storm project, Scud Hunt extends my practice beyond the canvas through world-building, creating a fictional artifact that feels entirely plausible within the cultural landscape of 1991. The game explores the increasingly blurred boundaries between warfare, mass media, and popular entertainment, and the ease with which violence can be repackaged as something playful, familiar, and fun.
